Unit 23: Stop Motion Animation (Anna)

Stop Motion

Lesson One

 What is a stop motion?

Stop motion is the sequence of an item being created to come to life within a set of photo frames. This process is a well time consuming technique, as the prop with be moving in increments whilst shooting within a frame. Once all the frames are done an edited if you move the set of frames at a face pace it becomes a movie, and shows a sequences of movements. Most time during making a stop motion the props that are mainly used are: clay figures, miniature figures like Lego and puppets this is because these props are one of the easiest to reposition easily when shooting.

Zoom call lesson

compare the two sets

corpse bride and ParaNorman

in the corpse bride it is very gloomy an doesn't have bright coloured set, seeing this you could tell that the movie is not an action adventure. The colours also used are mainly purple and black and these are very gothic colour so this would symbolise a sense of dark magic. This is very different from ParaNorman as this set is very colourful and cheerful, it also has a great light exposure to it too. Between the two set they both have a sense of a cartoon animation and has no realistic to it, but paranorman could have a little bit of realism in as the set has human beings and a school set in the picture where as the corpse bride looks like it could be an underworld or something gloomy and horrible.
